About

Diego C. Sapienza is an italo-uruguayan Cinematographer and Documentary Director who began his film career in Berlin, Germany. 

​Before transitioning to a cinematography career in 2020, spent ten years in the camera and lighting departments for clients like Sony Music, Universal Music, Warner Music, Warner Studios, ARD, RBB, ZDF, Pro7, Telekom, Apple, LIDL, Unicef Arg., ARRI Lighting, Sky, Netflix, Adidas, Mercedes Benz.​ 

 

Combining his clear directing vision with his panoramic understanding of each cinematography department brought Sapienza a great personal sense of merging daily life stories with powerful and meaningful images.

At an early stage of his career he shaped his camera operator skills shooting live sports for ESPN, Fox Sports and Live News. Including tv documentaries. Sapienza also directed live cameras for concerts in Germany for artists including: The Offspring, The Prodigy, Limp Bizkit, Parov Stelar, Parcels, Jungle.

Jordan, his recently released feature short film with director Patricio Mosse, tells the story of a nine years old bigender kid who faces the difficult moment of taking hormone pills. Shot with Alexa 35 and Hawks C Series. It is based on a true story and had the special support of Vantage and ARRI Berlin.

Sapienza is graduated from the Cinematography Master at the prestigious Film School ESCAC in Barcelona. ​He is fluent in Spanish, Italian, German and English. And resides between Berlin, Barcelona and Montevideo.
